Located in the German state of Saxony, HHL Leipzig Graduate School of Management, formerly Handelshochschule Leipzig, is a private, state-approved institution with university status, able to grant doctoral and habilitation degrees. It is one of the world's oldest business schools, having been founded in 1898. The school is internationally accredited by AACSB and locally accredited by ACQUIN. Doctoral and postdoctoral degrees are granted by the HHL Leipzig Graduate School of Management.

HHL allows students to study full time and part time master’s degree in the fields of management and business administration. Masters in management further leads to concentrated courses on the topics of Finance and Entrepreneurship. The doctoral program is for candidates who hold a secondary university degree. Within three years, the candidate participates in lectures, courses, a research colloquium, and conferences. After successfully completing all requirements and acceptance of the doctoral thesis, the candidate is awarded the doctoral degree.
In 2004, HHL became the first private business school in the German-speaking region to be accredited by AACSB International and ACQUIN. Eugen Schmalenbach is one of the Handelshochschule first and most prominent alumni, also well-known as the founder of today’s business administration as an academic field in science and research.
