University of Duisburg-Essen 

In the center of the Ruhr Metropolitan Region sits the University of Duisburg-Essen (UDE), one of the largest and youngest universities in Germany. Its wide range of topics includes everything from economics, engineering, natural sciences, and health to humanities, social sciences, and education. Since its foundation in 2003, the UDE has developed into a globally recognized research university. Under the auspices of the Universitätsallianz Ruhr, the UDE has a strategic alliance with the Ruhr-Universität Bochum and the Technische Universität Dortmund (UA Ruhr). They work closely together in research and education, and they each have branch offices on three different continents. Additionally, the UDE continues to collaborate with more than 100 universities worldwide.
