In the Chinese Studies Master program, you will learn to reflect on China-related issues on the basis of philological, historical and cultural studies as well as humanities and social science theories and methods, and to work on them independently and at an academic level. Entry Requirements

Minimum requirement includes first academic degree (BA) in Chinese studies or a related subject.

An aptitude test is required for this course. This serves as proof of the corresponding entry requirements.

Please note that a formal undergraduate degree in Chinese Studies is not an absolute requirement for admission. Graduates of other B. A. programmes can also apply if they fulfil the other requirements, in particular the expected level of competence in the Chinese language.

Applicants should possess knowledge of spoken and written high-level Chinese at the level of the Advanced level/gaoji, rank 5, the HSK examination (Hanyu Shuiping Kaoshi from 2010) or equivalent proof

Additionally, Applicants should have knowledge of pre-modern Chinese (at least two examined semesters or 4 SWS), to be proven either upon enrollment or before the start of the Master thesis
