Hochschule Emden/Leer is a small but excellent university with three campuses: Emden, the Maritime Campus Leer, and the Business Campus Leer. It stands for short distances and a personal and manageable study environment. The institution does not want to be a sterile institution that only teaches the curriculum, but rather a vibrant campus with public debate and academic discourse.
Maritime Sciences, Social Work and Health, Technology and Business Studies make the four faculties of the university offering a total of 27 Bachelors degree programmes and 12 Masters degree programmes. 114 professors and more than 400 lecturers and other teaching employees have taught 4,296 students, of whom 904 were first-year students starting their studies in the winter semester 2021/2022.
They are confronted with changing conditions as a university. They see it as an opportunity, an incentive, and a challenge all at the same time. As a result, political and societal demands on university teaching are increasing today. The emphasis remains on teaching quality as well as quality assurance and development systems established and developed at the university. The institute aims at expanding interdisciplinary and international cooperation in lecturing and research activities. They want to set the stage for an international atmosphere and a wealth of cultural activities on campus.
Their campus is small and intimate, with short distances between students and lecturers. They strive for a strong sense of belonging and are proud of their motivated employees. Students are always at the center of all activities. The campus is vibrant, and there is always time for public debate and academic debate.
