Jacobs University Bremen (abbreviated JU Bremen or JU) is a private international research university in Vegesack, Bremen, Germany. It provides study programs in engineering, humanities, natural, and social sciences, with bachelor's, master's, and doctorate degrees available. In addition, the Jacobs University International College is a preparatory program offered in collaboration with the Oxford International Education Group.
The majority of university instruction is given in English. Students at Jacobs University come from more than 110 countries, with approximately 80% foreign students and approximately 33% international faculty members. Jacobs University pursues the goal of shaping, through academic education, intensive mentoring, and living together on an international campus, talented young people, regardless of nationality, religion, and material conditions, into global citizens capable of assuming leading and responsible roles in the future sustainable and peaceful development of humankind.
Jacobs University provides undergraduate, master's, and doctoral degrees, as well as a preparatory program. Students begin participating in their professors' research projects as early as the first semester. The university sees itself as a melting pot of cultures, ideas, and points of view, with the goal of creating a safe and appealing learning environment. Both teaching and research at Jacobs University are organized into three thematic areas of focus, similar to faculties at other German universities, namely Mobility, Health, and Diversity.
Currently more than 1,600 students from over 110 nations are matriculated at the university. Programs with a total of 120 international partners foster the international atmosphere. The university closely cooperates with many local and international partners, including students exchange, faculty mobility, joint programs, and research collaborations. World-renowned institutions such as University of Pennsylvania, Cornell University and many others are included among the list of partner universities.
