Fulda University of Applied Sciences (officially named Hochschule Fulda - University of Applied Sciences) is located in Fulda, Hesse, in southwest Germany. Formerly known as Fachhochschule Fulda, it was established in 1974 as Hesse's fifth state University of Applied Sciences. Fulda University of Applied Sciences is now the first German University of Applied Sciences to be granted the authority to award PhD degrees.
Fulda University of Applied Sciences is a practice-oriented, international university. The independent right to confer the doctorate is part of the special emphasis on applied research. The university has eight departments with over 60 study programs, approximately 9,700 students, 1,426 international students from more than 110 countries, 170 professors, 125 academic and research staff, and 250 administrative staff.
The University is comprised faculties and study paths in the fields of Applied Computer Science, Business Administration, Electrical Engineering & Information Technology, Food Technology, Nursing & Health Sciences, Nutritional Science, Social & Cultural Science, Social Work, Social Sciences (PhD), and Public Health (PhD). The university provides a broad range of academic and professional programs, with a particular emphasis on "health, nutrition, and food." Numerous research and development projects are being carried out in collaboration with private industry and business.
Fulda University collaborates with over 100 universities worldwide. The number of international programs is constantly increasing. Bachelor's degrees in "International Business and Management," "Science and Engineering," or "International Health Sciences," as well as Master's degrees in "International Management," "Intercultural Communication and European Studies," "International Food Business and Consumer Studies," or "Global Software Development," are taught in English in part or entirely.
