The Kempten University of Applied Sciences is the Allgäu's only state university that trains academics in mechanical engineering and electrical engineering, business administration and tourism, computer science and multimedia, and social affairs and health. The educational institution on the Alps' outskirts has been steadily growing since teaching began in 1978.
Kempten University of Applied Sciences has a unique profile that includes a broad, well-founded education in a few undergraduate courses with moderate specialization in the main course. A particular concern is practical relevance and internationalization. The Kempten University of Applied Sciences offers numerous practical and future-oriented courses in the faculties of business administration, electrical engineering, computer science, mechanical engineering, social affairs and health as well as tourism management. In addition to the regular courses, there is also a comprehensive range of extra-occupational training courses and a selection of certificate courses at our Professional School of Business and Technology.
Currently, approximately 6,000 students are enrolled. The majority of the lectures are delivered by more than 150 professors, who are assisted by approximately 320 private-sector lecturers. On Bahnhofstrasse, a 53,000 m2 university campus with modern teaching buildings, laboratories, a library, and a canteen was built based on the provisional initial building. In administration, faculties, and laboratories, approximately 470 non-academic employees keep the university running.
The Kempten University of Applied Sciences is part of the Internationale Bodensee-Hochschule. Besides there are 100 partner universities outside of Germany which have a cooperation with the Kempten University of Applied Sciences. Furthermore, it is a partner university for world-class sport, with the mission statement "Competence through networked diversity."
