Overview

Kiel University of Applied Sciences was founded in 1969 as a University of Applied Sciences. It is one of three public higher education institutions in Kiel, Germany. The faculties of Agriculture, Business Management, Computer Science & Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Media and Social Work, and Health offer approximately 30 Bachelor's and Master's degrees, supplementary degrees, and continuing education courses. There are 7824 students enrolled as of November 2018. There are two dorms on campus, as well as one large and several smaller cafeterias. A planetarium called the Mediendom, a computer museum, and a star observatory are also affiliated with Fachhochschule. Agriculture, Computer Science and Electrical Engineering, Manufacturing, Systems Engineering, Media, Social Work, and Economics are the six departments that comprise the Fachhochschule Kiel. These departments offer 38 different courses of study, 19 of which are Bachelor courses. Aside from traditional courses like Economics and Social Work, the FH Kiel offers two maritime courses: Naval Architecture and Technology and Offshore Technology. The Fachhochschule Kiel is in close contact to international universities. Thereby many student exchange programs as well as mutual recognition of study performances can be provided. The International Office is coordinating approximately 530 students from over 80 different countries, organized by the Erasmus Program. Besides these efforts the Fachhochschule Kiel offers two entirely English-taught master's programs, Master of Science in Information Engineering and Master of industrial engineering. In a nutshell, Kiel University of Applied Sciences includes a variety of disciplines, cultures, and nationalities, as well as learning and teaching methods that cultivate as enriching. This incredible diversity encourages the university to adopt and respect various points of view.
