The Magdeburg-Stendal University of Applied Sciences is a public university with two campuses. One site is in Magdeburg, the capital city of Saxony-Anhalt, and the other is in Stendal. Since the university's inception in 1991, approximately 50 study programs have been established at three faculties in Magdeburg and two faculties in Stendal. Magdeburg has about 3.700 students and Stendal has about 1.800. The university offers courses in both German and English that lead to academic degrees such as BA, BSc, MA, MSc, and doctoral degrees.

Students in all programs of study have the option, and in some cases, the requirement, to spend up to two semesters of their academic studies abroad.
