Overview

Since 2009, the University of Applied Sciences has been operating under the name "Ostfalia," taking into account its continuous growth and regional identity, as all four campuses are located in Eastphalia (Ostfalen), an Old Saxony region extending between the Weser and Elbe rivers, the Lüneburg Heath, and the Harz range. Ostfalia is one of Lower Saxony's largest universities of applied sciences, with approximately 13,000 students, twelve faculties, and 21 departments. As a state higher education institution, it employs approximately 900 people, including more than 200 professors, at its Salzgitter, Suderburg, Wolfenbüttel, and Wolfsburg branches. Ostfalia is also home to seven affiliated institutes. Ostfalia collaborates with over 100 universities around the world, giving its students and faculty members the opportunity to gain international experience. Ostfalia's research is application-oriented, with close research collaborations with business and industry. The university has a wide range of research specialties, which are reflected in both their own areas of activity and those of the affiliated institutes. The breadth of research activities promotes interdisciplinary collaborations. Engineering/computer science, media, design, social work, and public health, as well as business and law, are all available at Ostfalia. Dual degree programs or degree programs that combine academic credentials and business-based vocational training round out the study options, which include more than 70 undergraduate and graduate degree programs. Flexible study schemes, such as remote or part-time study, provide qualification options for people at all stages of life. In a nutshell, Ostfalia University's main asset is its exceptional diversity of people. Their abilities, personalities, and experiences make Ostfalia a vibrant and dynamic place. As a part of a research and practice network, they are able to provide a plethora of opportunities for the students.
