The University of Bamberg (German: Otto-Friedrich-Universität Bamberg) was founded in 1647 in Bamberg, Germany, with a focus on the social sciences, economics, humanities, and applied computer science.
The majority of the university's facilities are located in the Old Town of Bamberg. These include the ancient slaughterhouse (Earth Science), the old Bauhof (Communication Studies), the old Jesuit college (Theology), the old Hochzeitshaus (History), and the old fire station (Oriental Studies)
Currently, the institution has four faculties:
• Faculty of Humanities
• Faculty of Social Sciences, Economics and Business Administration
• Faculty of Human Sciences and Education
• Faculty of Information Systems and Applied Computer Science
Internationally focused degree programs and research are made possible by the University of Bamberg's close network of alliances with foreign universities. In terms of international student mobility, the university is a pioneer. Young academic talent development and promotion are particularly important to the university. The institution is able to offer the next generation of academics with vital support networks through programs like the Trimberg Research Academy (TRAc) and its well-organized PhD programs.
The University's internationalization approach includes all aspects of research and teaching, for both university students and their foreign visitors, and is not just restricted to research and foreign study.
There have been 300 programs identical to it in 60 countries since the university's first international relationship with the University of South Carolina in Columbia (USA) in 1983. Since the founding Academia admitted 250 Bohemian students to Bamberg between 1648 and 1803, the main emphasis has been centered on institutions in Southern and Eastern Europe.
