The University of Kassel was established in 1971 and is a university in the central German state of Hessen. It has roughly 25,000 students and 3300 employees, more than 300 of them are professors. The University of Kassel contains two campuses in the town of Witzenhausen in addition to the major campus Holländischer Platz, as well as campuses at Heinrich-Plett-Straße, Menzelstraße, Wilhelmshöher Allee, and Damaschkestraße in Kassel. The library of the University of Kassel serves as a Library of the State of Hessen. International students are prepared for their study term by a specialized unit called the Studienkolleg (language and academic skills). Over 115 nations have students studying abroad. In the following disciplines of study, a variety of undergraduate and graduate study programs are available. Both German and foreign students may enroll in any study program. A variety of degrees, such as bachelor's and master's degrees, the Artistic Examination, or a doctorate, can be earned. More than 100 visiting researchers conduct research projects each academic year in collaboration with faculty members from the University of Kassel, greatly enhancing both academic and cultural life. On campus is where the brand-new International House is situated. It provides accommodations for visitors from other countries and can be used for gatherings, conferences, and cultural events. The University of Kassel considers itself to be a university of Europe. It is globally networked and has an international focus. Internationalization is essential for learning, teaching, research, and the dissemination of knowledge.
