Informatics for the Natural Sciences

The Master degree program data science Due to the constant increase in data volumes and data complexity  Data Science has created a new  interdisciplinary field of work that covers a wide range of aspects of data analysis  such as handling large amounts of data  statistical modelling  visualisation  pattern recognition with machine learning methods  but also ethical and legal questions. Data Scientists are urgently needed for many socially significant developments  e.g. in the areas of intelligent vehicles or housing  artificial intelligence or social media.

The extraction of information from data is a genuinely interdisciplinary undertaking: The data collection and the communication of the results of the analyses require a link to the domain from which the data originate. The processing and analysis of the data requires an interaction of computer algorithms with statistical methods.

Data Science

The Master of Arts degree in Sociology offers well-founded theoretical and methodological training and enables specialization opportunities in different areas. The overarching goal of the study program is to impart extensive theoretical and methodological knowledge to the students in the theory and method seminars as well as in all offered areas of general and special sociology. The special feature of the MA Sociology in Bielefeld is that the students are given maximum freedom of choice at the largest sociological institution in the country. The interdisciplinary Master program "History  Economics and Philosophy of Science / Interdisciplinary Studies of Science" (ISoS) focuses on science-reflective studies and is aimed at working out essential characteristics of science and making them explicit. History  Economics and Philosophy of Science

The ASC programme is designed for students with Bachelor degree focusing on information and communication technology. Aerospace Engineering (Dual degree)

Mechatronics is an exciting interdisciplinary field of engineering, based on mechanical and electrical engineering as well as signal and data processing. It can also be seen as a new design philosophy, where these fields are treated in an integrated way.

The paper based application process for the Mechatronics Master has been replaced by an online application procedure.

The Master of Finance is a programme for recent graduates or young professionals aspiring to be finance experts. To ensure that the program meets the needs of all our students, two first semester tracks have been created: "Finance Immersion" and "Business" tracks.

The Business Track is designed to allow students with academic backgrounds in Finance, to enter a first semester that allows for the combination of diverse topic coverage while ensuring a solid foundation of core competencies required throughout the programme.

The Finance Immersion Track follows the traditional Master of Finance curriculum.
