The objective of the Master degree programme in American Studies is to provide students with basic knowledge of North American from the early colonial period through the 21st century, including Its politics, literature, culture, geography, history, and society, as well as Its ethnic diversity and religious influences. Students of the Master degree programme have the opportunity to select specialisations at an early stage of their studies, by choosing between literature and cultural-historical disciplines, or political and social-science-oriented disciplines. Further specialisation provides for in-depth knowledge and pivotal skills, preparing students for careers in the private or public sector or for pursuing Advanced academic degrees.

The Semester contributions totaling 171.80 EUR must be paid each semester. It includes Administrative fee 70.00 EUR, Social contribution for student services fee 54.00 EUR, constituted student body 10.00 EUR, Complementary financing of regional transit pass (Semesterticket) fee 35.30 EUR and Levy for the use of nextbike fee 2.50 EUR
Minimum entry requirements include an above average Bachelor degree in American studies, English studies, geography, history, political science, religious studies/history, theology/church history, or a related field with 180 ECTS.
A high school diploma or a degree from an institution of higher education in an English-speaking country (Australia, Canada, Ireland, Malta, New Zealand, UK, USA) is accepted as proof of your English language proficiency
