Klaus Evard founded the university in 1990 as the IDB business academy, and it was renamed the International School of Management (ISM) in 1992. Technische Universität Dresden, abbreviated as TUD and frequently mistranslated as "Dresden University of Technology," is a public research university that has 32,389 students as of 2018. The institution is a part of TU9, a grouping of the top nine German technical universities. Technische Universität Dresden

In the German city of Trier, the Universität Trier was established in 1473. The university, which had been shut down by the then-French government in Trier in 1798, was reopened in 1970, following a break of about 172 years. Currently, there are two million volumes and 3,050 journals in the university library. Each of the 1,000 desks in the reading rooms, which are available 16 hours a day, is for library patrons.

The University of Passau is renowned for its international orientation and atmosphere outside of Germany and Bavaria. Approximately 236 international universities throughout the Americas, Europe, Asia, and Australia have cooperative partnerships with the university, allowing students enrolled there to complete parts of their studies abroad.
