Embedded systems are omnipresent in technical installations and utilities and, as "hidden" systems, form a key technology in terms of product innovations in mechanical and plant engineering as well as in medical and scientific devices and instruments. The University of Applied Sciences Bremerhaven supports and furthers such development with the Master Programme "Embedded Systems Design". An embedded system includes mechanical or mechatronic systems which assume Its essential function through open or closed loop control using electronic components as well as the required software. Modules such as Digital Systems/VHDL, System-on Chip Design,  mechatronic and discrete control systems enable students to develop and implement innovative embedded systems.

Internship is not mandatory, but is optional during studies. If possible, we recommend doing an internship.

Embedded Systems Design

Robotics is an innovative and rapidly growing field of technology. The bachelor’s programme prepares prospective engineers for future challenges in the area of robotics with a mix of theoretical and practical education and opens the door to a promising field of employment. Driven by the digitisation of production and recent progress in artificial intelligence, there is a growing need for robots. This results in a high and long-term demand for academically qualified robotics engineers. In addition to robotics, the Bachelor programme also qualifies students for cross-sectional activities in the fields of computer science, electrical engineering and mechanical engineering.

The postgraduate course in British studies is an interdisciplinary teaching programme over 2 years. Having successfully completed the Certificate Phase during the first year, students receive a British Studies certificate. After successful completion of the entire course, students are awarded the degree M.A. British Studies. The Certificate Phase comprises about 30 weeks of teaching stretching over 2 semesters. The first semester (Core Programme) consists of a series of compulsory lectures and seminars. In the second semester (Options Programme) students can choose 3 out of 6 options (see course outline below). Students have to attend an average of at least 20 hours of classes per week. The Master program in Anglophone Studies focuses on the linguistic, literary and cultural phenomena in their respective socio-cultural and political contexts.  The program offers flexible study model to students by allowing them to choose an elective module. This program is offered as a double degree program in cooperation with  Ruhr University Bochum and TU Dortmund.

The Master Programme »Integrated Urban Development and Design« (IUDD) is train students to develop abilities that will encourage them to react to transformation processes that are typical for the beginning of the 21st century: Urban landscapes of dispersed character  global markets as well as global challenges in environment and society  virtual spaces  powerful actors in the construction business and postmodern lifestyles are raising new challenges for the spatial Competencies of planners and designers dedicated to larger scales but with a sense for detail.
The aim of the consecutive programme is the training of local and international "curators for urban space". This takes place through a combination of spatial scientific-analytical and urban developmental-design oriented education  as well as through an integrated practical component or an in-depth semester in China.
The programme aims to deepen  expand and apply technical and methodological skills already acquired. These should also be considered in the context of international perspectives and enable interdisciplinary work. The programme is committed to define  analyse  include and streamline these diverse factors in the sense of Integrated Urban Development as an holistic approach and Its linkages to urban design in the metropolitan as well as rural-urban context.

A semester contribution of approx. 160 EUR per semester which also covers the usage of public transport in Weimar Erfurt Jena and local trains in nearly all of Thuringia

Integrated Urban Development and Design - Reflective Urban Practice

The Master programme in Electrical Engineering trains students with specific expertise in key areas of Microelectronics Design and Communication systems including theoretical foundations, practical skills and knowledge about application areas in Analogue and Digital Integrated Circuits, Semiconductor Physics, Photonics, Embedded Systems, Digital Communications and High-Frequency engineering.

The Semester contributions totalling 284.50 EUR must be paid each semester. It includes Semester ticket including the NRW-Ticket fee 178.00 EUR, Soli-EUR fee 3.00 EUR, Social contribution of Student union fee 90.50 EUR and AStA contribution fee 13.00 EUR

The Master programme in Mathematics is a built on the Bachelor program. The main goals of the programme is to gain knowledge in mathematical methods and results, to gain the ability for discovering and analyzing structures, to learn about new subjects independently, to deepen knowledge in subjects of own choice, to get to the front of current research in a chosen area of mathematics, and to learn about practical techniques for solving complex problems. 

Program is offered in English. Participants are also welcome to attend courses and seminars that are offered in German. Students can choose to write the Masters thesis in English or in German
