The Master degree program data science Due to the constant increase in data volumes and data complexity  Data Science has created a new  interdisciplinary field of work that covers a wide range of aspects of data analysis  such as handling large amounts of data  statistical modelling  visualisation  pattern recognition with machine learning methods  but also ethical and legal questions. Data Scientists are urgently needed for many socially significant developments  e.g. in the areas of intelligent vehicles or housing  artificial intelligence or social media.

The extraction of information from data is a genuinely interdisciplinary undertaking: The data collection and the communication of the results of the analyses require a link to the domain from which the data originate. The processing and analysis of the data requires an interaction of computer algorithms with statistical methods.

Internship is not mandatory, but is optional during studies. If possible, we recommend doing an internship.

Data Science

Cyber Security is a scientific programme  in which you learn to understand how the Security Building Blocks work and what are their limits including mathematics behind cryptography. Based on this  you gain knowledge needed to design and develop new algorithms/approaches against specific cyber threats as well as critically evaluate their limits. The programme is not about how to configure a firewall or to run a pen testing tool  it is about academic content with in depth understanding of underlying techniques and principles.

ASC stands for Advanced Signal Processing and Communications Engineering  and it is a new Master programme for students who want to specialize in this field.

The ASC programme is designed for students with Bachelor degree focusing on information and communication technology. Its diploma is recognized internationally and meets the requirements for subsequent doctoral studies. The four-semester curriculum starts in winter. All courses are taught in English and do not require prior knowledge in German language.

The Master program Mind and Brain thus acquaints students with the most up-to-date approaches to and results of neuroscience research as well as their bearing upon the fields of psychology, philosophy, neurolinguistics, neuroscience and cognitive science.
The Master program Mind and Brain offers students three different areas of specialization: (1) neuroscience, neurobiology or psychology, (2) philosophy or psycholinguistics or (3) academic management (German required).
