The Master degree in Earth System Data Science and Remote Sensing is primarily research and method-oriented. Technologies and methods of environmentally-related data science and remote sensing are dealt with comprehensively and various application areas for specialization are offered. The course aims to train a new generation of earth system scientists who are prepared from the start for the challenges of a data-rich world.

The Semester contributions totaling 253.50 EUR must be paid in each semester. It includes Student body 8.50 EUR, Studentenwerk Leipzig 80 EUR and MDV public transport pass 165 EUR
Minimum requirement includes Bachelor degree in a geoscientific, natural science, environmental science or computer science and data science-related course, where at least 35 credit points must come from one of the following areas: geography, earth system sciences, earth sciences, environmental sciences, life sciences, data science, environmental informatics, remote sensing or geographic information systems (GIS).
In addition, the following knowledge must be proven: Previous knowledge of statistics with at least 5 CP and previous knowledge of a scripting language for scientific computing or a higher programming language (e.g. Python, R, Julia).
CV must be provided in English
Applicants from China, Vietnam, India and Mongolia need to produce APS
If applicable proof of having passed the aptitude test (EFP) or the evaluation of subject-specific admission requirements (FZV) can be used as supporting documents for admission
