The Bachelor programme in English Studies: British and American Studies deal with the knowledge fields of language, literature and culture on a broad basis. The major subject - primary school variant of the course prepares students for work in child-friendly English classes. The students therefore acquire in-depth knowledge of the language, literature and cultures of the English-speaking world - with a special focus on authentic children's literature such as picture books. Students deal with both British and North American linguistic, cultural and literary forms and thus acquire not only text and media analytical skills, but also intercultural and interdisciplinary skills. Career prospects include teaching institutions, cultural institutions such as museums or archives, in adult education, as well as in municipal institutions or private companies in public relations, communication or media analysis.

Minimum entry requirement includes a General University entrance qualification (Abitur) or equivalent.
Native speakers and English language degree holders are exempted from providing proof of language requirement
