The Master Programme »Integrated Urban Development and Design« (IUDD) is train students to develop abilities that will encourage them to react to transformation processes that are typical for the beginning of the 21st century: Urban landscapes of dispersed character global markets as well as global challenges in environment and society virtual spaces powerful actors in the construction business and postmodern lifestyles are raising new challenges for the spatial Competencies of planners and designers dedicated to larger scales but with a sense for detail. The aim of the consecutive programme is the training of local and international "curators for urban space". This takes place through a combination of spatial scientific-analytical and urban developmental-design oriented education as well as through an integrated practical component or an in-depth semester in China. The programme aims to deepen expand and apply technical and methodological skills already acquired. These should also be considered in the context of international perspectives and enable interdisciplinary work. The programme is committed to define analyse include and streamline these diverse factors in the sense of Integrated Urban Development as an holistic approach and Its linkages to urban design in the metropolitan as well as rural-urban context.

The semester contribution is 196.00 EUR and the contribution is comprised 74.00 EUR Studierendenwerk fee, 68.50 EUR Thuringia ticket of DB Regio, 34.40 EUR Weimar public transport ticket, 12.10 EUR Central Thuringian public transport ticket and 7.00 EUR ticket for DNT and Klassik Stiftung Weimar
Applicants have to obtain a university degree (or similar) from a German or a foreign University with at least 180 CP in the disciplines of architecture, landscape architecture, urban planning / town planning, urban design, environmental planning, regional planning, civil engineering, geography, urban and architectural sociology, environmental sciences, cultural studies, and other disciplines relevant to the natural and built environment.
Applicants are also free to add additional documents like recommendation letters, work references etc to enhance the possibilities of admission
In addition applicants are encouraged to write and reflect on urban matters by submitting a small essay about one chapter of a book/author related to urbanism and your reflections on this book/author (800 words maximum)
