Course Details

Master of Arts in Linguistics provides in-depth and research-oriented engagement with the analysis of language structures and skills. The single-subject MA Linguistics examines linguistic structures and skills from a variety of perspectives and using different methods. Since cognitive, social, cultural, biological and physical aspects play a role in understanding language, linguistics as a scientific discipline is at the interface of the major scientific areas of the life sciences, social sciences and humanities.

Entry Requirements

Minimum requirement includes a Bachelor degree program of at least six semesters in length of at least six semesters in which at least 180 credit points have been earned in one of the following subjects: Linguistics, phonetics, a single-language philology with a linguistic focus (final thesis with a linguistic topic), or a comparable linguistic subject or an equivalent degree in a relevant field of study (for example, a single-language philology with a non-linguistic thesis, information processing, communication science, musicology, physics or psychology).
