The Media Architecture study programme offers in the first instance a well-grounded further education qualification for contemporary media- and architecture-related vocations. At the same time it provides a place of experimentation  a kind of laboratory or meeting place for areas of joint research and new fields of work whose forms of expression transcend disciplinary boundaries. The core element of the study programme is the project module which  through intensive ongoing supervision and experimental exploration  provides an opportunity to develop exemplary responses to issues that are currently unresolved. As the student  you can determine the relative degree of theoretical or practical work in your project work according to your individual requirements. Coursework is conducted jointly in interdisciplinary project groups  giving you the chance to learn outside of disciplinary boundaries and to train your ability to work in an interdisciplinary team. The study course is open to new professions arising in the broad spectrum between architecture and new media.

The study programme is bilingual; The language of instruction is English. The degree programme must ensure that an adequate number of
courses are offered in English. With sufficient knowledge of German  students may also attend courses
taught in German. All academic activities  including all oral and written assignments and examinations  are

Materials Science and Engineering

International Master degree in Educational Quality in Developing Countries (IMPEQ) was developed to respond to the skills shortage related to the development of educational quality in developing countries, especially in sub-Saharan Africa. The aim of the program is to provide people in management positions in the education systems with in-depth knowledge and management skills in order to bring about changes in their education systems and to design, influence, control and evaluate reform processes in their systems. In addition, the program promotes the development of qualified research capacities that can support the development of educational quality in the respective countries. The program was developed in close collaboration with sub-Saharan African education experts and development cooperation to offer a program that meets the needs of those working in the education sector in developing countries.
IMPEQ is a blended learning programme, which combines periods of attendance in Bamberg, Germany and Butare, Rwanda, with online mentoring and self-study. Students are able to continue their employment while studying in the programme.

The Master of Arts in Roads to Democracies - Historical and Contemporary Perspectives on Politics and Culture is research-oriented, international and interdisciplinary. The program aims to provide students with analytical tools and theoretical knowledge that help to understand and explain the interrelation between institutional structures, political processes and the social and cultural foundations of democracy. The interdisciplinary curriculum focuses on political, economic, social, and cultural aspects of democratic ideas, institutions and structures both in and outside of Europe.

Roads to Democracies

The Master in Archaeological Science and Human Evolution is a research-oriented program that addresses the broad spectrum of natural science applications to address archaeological and historical questions. Students are given an overview of the various subjects in natural history archaeology, and then specialize in one of the disciplines.
