The Master of Arts in Roads to Democracies - Historical and Contemporary Perspectives on Politics and Culture is research-oriented, international and interdisciplinary. The program aims to provide students with analytical tools and theoretical knowledge that help to understand and explain the interrelation between institutional structures, political processes and the social and cultural foundations of democracy. The interdisciplinary curriculum focuses on political, economic, social, and cultural aspects of democratic ideas, institutions and structures both in and outside of Europe.

The Semester contributions totalling 284.50 EUR must be paid each semester. It includes Semester ticket including the NRW-Ticket fee 178.00 EUR, Soli-EUR fee 3.00 EUR, Social contribution of Student union fee 90.50 EUR and AStA contribution fee 13.00 EUR
Minimum requirement includes an above average first academic degree (Bachelor degree or equivalent) in history, political science, sociology or in a related field of study with a final grade of at least good (local grade 2.5).
Following test results can serve as proof of English proficiency: IELTS, TOEFL or Cambridge certificate
Applicants from China, India, Mongolia or Vietnam need to submit APS certificate
An exposé of research ideas for the applicants potential Master thesis must be submitted
