Master degree in Sinology serves to deepen linguistic, technical and methodological knowledge, but above all to develop the ability to work independently and scientifically. In addition to the methodologically reflected handling of Chinese sources, the focus is on theoretical approaches from cultural studies and the history of concepts and ideas. A semester abroad at a Chinese or European partner university is also an integral part of the Master degree.

The Semester contributions totaling 337.50 EUR must be paid each semester. It includes Constitutional student body fee 13.30 EUR, Semester Public Transport Pass fee 182.40 EUR, Semester Public Transport Pass Hardship fee 6.80 EUR, Student Union fee 85 EUR and Administrative fee 50 EUR
Minimum requirement includes a Bachelor degree in East Asia/Sinology from the University of Hamburg or in a comparable sinology degree from a German or recognized foreign university.
Applicants should have language skills in Chinese
Applicants from subjects related to Sinology should provide proof of language skills amounting to at least 50 ECTS, HSK level 5 or equivalent proof
