The Master programme in Visual Computing teaches students the fundamental principles, processes and applications of computer-assisted processing of visual information. Students will become acquainted with the theory and practice of image analysis and pattern recognition. The Master degree programme in Visual Computing at Saarland University is therefore a joint undertaking involving the university departments of Informatics and Computer Science, Mathematics and Mechatronics, the medical technology division at the Fraunhofer Institute for Biomedical Engineering and the Max Planck Institute for Informatics.

The Semester contributions totalling 293.00 EUR must be paid each semester. It includes Saarland Student Services fee of 98.70 EUR, Personal accident, theft and public liability insurance cover fee 1.30 EUR, Payment to the General Student Committee (AStA) 13.00 EUR, Administrative charge fee 50.00 EUR and Semester travel ticket fee 130.00 EUR
Minimum requirement includes a Bachelor degree or equivalent qualification from a German or foreign university in the field of Visual Computing or a related field (particularly informatics, computer science, mathematics, physics, electrical engineering or mechatronics) or proof of equivalent academic achievement.
English native speakers are exempt from proving language proficiency
APS certificate is compulsory for applicants from China, India, Mongolia and Vietnam
