The international Master degree in Water Engineering (WEM) is a modern, consecutive degree with a focus on water management as a sub-area of ​​environmental engineering. The programme qualifies future experts in all water-related aspects of environmental engineering. Students will learn the design and planning of hydropower for regenerative energy generation, environmentally friendly hydraulic design of rivers, modern stormwater retention, sustainable urban drainage and water management, wastewater treatment technologies, and the design of ecohydrological measures to improve the water quality of terrestrial and coastal water bodies. There is a special emphasis on hydraulic, hydrological, and groundwater modelling techniques. Students learn remediation and restoration methods for bodies of water.

Entry Requirements

Minimum requirement includes Bachelor degree in civil engineering, environmental engineering or renewable energies with at least 180 CP and an overall grade of at least 2.7.

Applicants should have evidence of modules with an in-depth water reference (e.g. water in-depth modules in the civil engineering course, elective module aquatic ecology in the environmental engineering course, energy systems module in the regenerative energies course).
