The international Master World Heritage Studies provides the practical skills and theoretical knowledge to identify protect manage and present cultural and natural heritage sites. Students are encouraged to question how the World Heritage concept is understood and how it works around the world. The program combines theory and practice involving various academic disciplines such as humanities architecture ecology management tourism marketing and others. It thus emphasizes the connection between culture and nature tangible and intangible cultural heritage as well as conservation and sustainable development.The program recognizes that heritage can and should be protected from a variety of perspectives and in contemporary contexts. To this end the program focuses on the critical examination of current challenges such as demographic changes ecological fragility and economic inequalities. Students will develop the skills they need to work successfully in professional cultural and natural heritage contexts to further Advanced the definition and recontextualization of the World Heritage concept.

Applicants must hold the Bachelor degree or equivalent in cultural studies or other fields of study meaningfully related to the World Heritage Studies curriculum (e.g. humanities, social sciences,architecture, archaeology, art history, monument preservation, environmental studies, geography, cultural management or tourism).
Applicants with a higher education entrance qualification from Australia, Canada, Ireland, New Zealand, Great Britain including Northern Ireland or the United States of American do not have to submit a separate proof of English language skills
