The Technical Institution of Berlin is a public research university with locations in Berlin, Germany. The Fachhochschule Potsdam is a University of Applied Sciences in Potsdam, which lies in the capital of the German federal state of Brandenburg. It was established in 1991, and the first classes were held in the winter semester of 1991–1992.

There are two locations for the Fachhochschule Potsdam. The majority of the classes are held in the former Adolf-Hitler Barracks of the Wehrmacht Infantry Regiment 9 at the Pappelallee Campus in northern Potsdam.

With more than 30 bachelor's and master's degree programs that emphasize practical application, the University of Applied Sciences Potsdam provides both prospective students and current students with clear employment opportunities. 3,600 students from Germany and other countries are supervised by more than 100 professors.

The University of Applied Sciences Potsdam's study programs are offered in German and demand for language proficiency at least at level C1 of the Common European Framework of Reference. German language proficiency is not required for admission to the Childhood Studies and Children's Rights master's program in English. However, it is advised to have a basic understanding of German.

An international network of about 80 partner universities makes up the Potsdam University of Applied Sciences.
