The MA program in North American Studies focuses on historical developments, structures, and institutions in North American that are analyzed and interpreted in their respective cultural, economic, literary, political, and social contexts. The program provides in-depth knowledge of North American in the following six disciplines: politics, sociology, literature, economics, culture and history. Students may choose two areas of concentration (out of the six disciplines listed above). In addition, interdisciplinary and regional aspects and issues are addressed in compulsory courses on current topics and research fields in North American.

North American Studies (Hybrid)

The MA Serial Storytelling at the ifs is Europe’s first Master Programme focusing on collaborative writing for series. Focusing on both local and international series markets, this intensive two-year Master degree combines story development skills, collaboration techniques, and the innovative approach of artistic research. The programme is supported by industry partners such as RTL Media Group, ZDF, SKY Deutschland, Paramount, btf bildundtonfabrik, Série Series, Series Mania, and the Film Festival Cologne.

Molecular biotechnology is the science of elucidating natural, biological processes and their transfer to other areas of application and deals with the research of micro-organisms, their communication and metabolic pathways as well as the metabolites they produce and their effects on other organisms.  The aim of the course is to train research biotechnologists who have solid specialist knowledge and skills in the field of biochemistry and physiology. The course thus lays the foundations for later interdisciplinary work in a research-oriented environment. It is therefore of interest to people who have a broad interest in chemical, biological and biotechnological issues and see their strengths in the life sciences.

The English course at the Leuphana University of Lüneburg offers an in-depth examination of the English-speaking cultural areas and their respective cultural products as well as the constellation of language and culture. Master programme in Public Sector Innovation and E-Governance aims to provide students with the knowledge, skills and methods necessary to meet the academic and professional standards in the fields of public management, information systems and e-Governance.
