The international Master Program World Studies: Orders  Politics  Cultures provides students with in-depth knowledge of global structures and interactions. It aims at examining political and cultural processes at a world scale from an interdisciplinary perspective. We engage with international orders  the complex inter-relations between international actors  the global dissemination of ideas and knowledge  as well as diverging and converging modes of understanding in intercultural contexts. We understand ‘orders’ as stable settings gathering the parts and a whole (e.g.  in the sense of multi-level governance and international legal systems). ‘Politics’ is concerned with the regulation of societies in transnational contexts. ‘Cultures’ refers to disputed interpretations  practices  and values pertaining to these orders and politics.

Internship is not mandatory, but is optional during studies. If possible, we recommend doing an internship.

The research-oriented international Master degree program in Biotechnology allows for a post-bachelor’s specialized training in cell biology  microbiology  bioanalytics and Laboratory Diagnostics. In addition to solid theoretical training incorporating the most up-to-date scientific knowledge  the Master degree programme offers an exceptionally high proportion of practical training in modern laboratory methods. Within small project groups students learn to carry out scientific experiments and how to document and present them. The programme is internationally oriented and all courses are given in English. After their Master thesis  which is carried out in national and international research institutions or enterprises  students are qualified to pursue doctoral studies.

International applicants have to apply via uni-assist. Uni-assist verifies applications on their credentials – it does not grant admissions. If the verification of uni-assist is successful  the application is forwarded to BTU Cottbus-Senftenberg where we evaluate the application with regards to the admission to our programme. The Environmental and Resource Management study programme offers an integrated approach to current environmental issues. Recognising that these issues can no longer be solved by a single discipline  the programme combines the knowledge of several closely related fields. Classes are offered in fundamental technical subjects as well as in natural sciences  sociology  and economics. Starting from this basis  more specific courses deal with current environmental issues such as techniques of resource protection  concepts of environmental planning  risk and impact assessment  as well as socioeconomic implications. Environmental and Resource Management

The international Master degree course in Renewable Energy Systems looks at the technology and engineering of wind  solar and bio-energy systems as well as downstream systems for energy transformation and distribution. The course’s focus is on systems engineering. In addition  graduates learn process simulation techniques and can also develop their business and management skills. The course is made up of two semesters of theory and practical lab work and a six-month Master thesis in industry.

International Relations

Note: The program can be completed in either full time or on part time basis. Full time program can be competed 120 ECTS that includes 3 semesters with 1 semester for the thesis. Part time can be either completed with 120 ECTS (4 semesters with 1 semester for the thesis) or 90 ECTS (3 semesters with 1 semester for the thesis).

MBA Technology Management

International Management programme combines practice-related studies of business administration with simultaneous systematic in-company training. It gives students the relevant specialist knowledge in the individual areas of business administration, and enables them to apply it in the practical phases in the different departments of their training company. Students can select an appropriate study focus in their third year, to prepare them optimally for the requirements of the company in the respective areas and functions.Students acquire practice-oriented business knowledge with a special focus on international management. During the course of studies, a further focus is also placed on teaching methodological skills.

Technomathematics focuses on technical topics in the field of mathematics. The Master program in Technomathematics is offered jointly by the Department of Mathematics at Universität Hamburg and the Technical University of Hamburg-Harburg. It has a strong research profile consisting of mathematics (60%), informatics in engineering (20%), and technology (20%).
