International Information Systems

The International Master in “Physical Activity and Health” programme provides graduate students with knowledge and practical experience in the field of physical activity and health promotion. Its areas of emphasis are physical activity and exercise for disease prevention and rehabilitation. Students are trained in: conceptualization of intervention strategies  programme implementation within specific settings and/or target groups (e.g. vulnerable groups such as the chronically ill or ethnic minorities)  quality assurance  and scientific evaluation..

Step 1:
As a first step  you should send your application documents as one PDF-File by Email (sport-mapah@fau.de) directly to the Department of Sport Science and Sport. Please do not use the application portal of our university! You will receive a confirmation Email that we have received your application within three working days. Applications will be reviewed by the Department within 6 weeks of receiving the complete application package. Applicants will be informed of the outcome of the evaluation process by Email.

Step 2:
As a second step  applicants who have passed the evaluation by the Department of Sport Science and Sport will be asked to take part in the formal admission process conducted by the central university administration. Applicants will receive assistance guiding them through the formal application process. One important thing is changing: From January 2022  it will no longer be necessary to submit hard copies of your documents (certificates  language certificates  etc.). The entire process of step 1 and step 2 will be done online using electronic documents! The central university administration will conduct a formal check of the applicants' degree certificates. Applicants who pass this second evaluation process will receive an official letter of admission to the MA Programme in Spring/Summer.

For international applicants:
As international (i.e. non-European Union) students will need the formal admission letter in order to apply for a visa to Germany  these applicants are strongly encouraged to file their application with the Department of Sport Science as soon as possible.

If the application to the Department of Sport Science and Sport (Step 1) is submitted later than in February 2022  the full two-step application procedure may not be completed on time to receive a visa for the 2022 fall term.

Applicants not providing CEFR B2 level language certificates may have to take an additional English language exam at the University Language Center prior to enrollment  regardless of the score achieved in other language tests

Physical Activity and Health

The “Master of Arts in Development Economics and International Studies” (MA DEIS) is an economics-centered program designed to enhance the knowledge and skills of students planning to work in or seek leadership responsibilities in public  non-profit  and private sector organizations for international cooperation and development. It is also aimed at students intending to work at the intersection between research and practice and at those pursuing an academic career in study-related subjects.

It is a two-year (four-semester) program and includes rigorous training in analytical as well as qualitative and quantitative methods. In particular  with the increasing availability of micro data (e.g. household- or firm-level data) and the importance of evidence-based policy making  students learn how to do applied empirical work in (development) economics  with a special emphasis on impact evaluations. This includes both experimental methods  such as randomized field experiments  and quasi-experimental methods. The program hence provides students with the skills to understand much of the empirical literature in development economics. Also  and importantly  as part of this training  students will become acquainted with the statistical software Stata  with the aim to enable students to do their own empirical analyses.

Development Economics and International Studies

The Master program Creative Technologies combines audio-visual media technologies and software development studies with an artistic-creative exploration of novel forms of expression in film and digital media art. Creative-artistic computer scientists as well as technically oriented media designer come together in the context of the Film University to experiment with technology  creativity and film with an interdisciplinary approach.

Focus are all mechanisms that contribute to the magic of movies: from graphics  sound and visual effects over traditional production processes to novel forms of storytelling in XR (Virtual Reality  Mixed Reality  Augmented Reality)  cross-media  and interactive.

 Darmstadt University of Applied Sciences graduates are especially popular with HR managers in German companies. The annual "Wirtschaftswoche" rankings confirm this. Babelsberg's Konrad Wolf Film University (German: Filmuniversität Babelsberg Konrad Wolf) is Germany's oldest and largest film school. The university provides undergraduate, graduate, and postgraduate studies in all aspects of the filmmaking process. Furthermore, it is Brandenburg's only art school, located in Babelsberg alongside the Babelsberg Film Studio.
 
 The German Academy of Film Art (German: Deutsche Hochschule für Filmkunst) was founded on November 1, 1954, at Babelsberg Palace in Potsdam-Babelsberg, and was renamed the Film and Television Academy of the GDR in 1969. It was named after director Konrad Wolf in 1985, and it was renamed Academy for Film and Television in 1990. After 60 years of operation, the school was granted university status and renamed Konrad Wolf Film University of Babelsberg on July 8, 2014.
 
 Film courses are available through the university's Bachelor of Arts and Master of Arts programs. There is also an FOM in Viena and in Luxembourg.
 
 Since its inception, the FOM University has consistently aligned its bachelor's and master's programs with economic and student needs, as well as scientific standards. FOM University of Applied Sciences for Economics and Management

The Friedrich-Schiller-Universität Jena is a public research university in Jena, Thuringia, Germany. The university was founded in 1558 and is one of Germany's ten oldest universities. It has six Nobel Prize winners, the most recent being Jena graduate. The university was at the epicenter of the emergence of German idealism and early Romanticism at the turn of the nineteenth century. As of 2014, the university had approximately 19,000 students and 375 professors enrolled. Herbert Kroemer, who won the Nobel Prize in Physics in 2000.
 
 Friedrich Schiller University Jena is committed to research and teaching freedom. It uses science and education to address future social issues. The pursuit of knowledge and the maintenance of good scientific practice are important aspects of university education. This includes everlasting promotion of international collaboration and networking with non-university research institutions. Incorporation of science into everyday business, culture, and society is critical both locally and globally.
 
 The "Jena Center - History of the 20th Century" research center was established in 2006. The graduate school "Jena School for Microbial Communication" (JSMC) was founded in 2007 as part of the German Universities Excellence Initiative. As research institutions, the Center for Molecular Biomedicine (CMB) and the interdisciplinary research center Laboratory of the Enlightenment were established in 2008. The "Center of Advanced Research" (ZAF) was established in 2014.
 
 Jena University was a founding member of the Halle-Jena-Leipzig-based German Centre for Integrative Biodiversity Research (iDiv) in 2013. It is a German Research Foundation research center (DFG). Friedrich Schiller University is the only university in Germany that has chairs for gravitational theory and Caucasus Studies.

The Hertie School (until 2019 Hertie School of Governance) is a private, independent graduate school of governance (public policy, international affairs, and data science) in Berlin's Friedrichstraße. It is a public policy school that offers master's and doctoral degrees. Half of the Hertie School's students are international, with alumni and current students from more than 95 countries represented. Both academics and campus life are well accessible with English language. 
 
 The Hertie School's research focus, which has been in place since its inception, is on the conditions, structures, and dynamics of governance. The school had a total of 687 students enrolled as of September 2020. There are 539 master's students, 51 Executive MPA participants, and 63 doctoral students among them. There are more than 2,100 alumni. 
 
 Students at Hertie School typically come from backgrounds in law, economics, political science, and international relations, and they pursue a Master of Public Policy, Master of International Affairs, or Master of Data Science for Public Policy degree. Students at the school can complete a "professional year" at a multinational corporation, government ministry, or international organization. In addition to this possibility, research collaboration with faculty is encouraged. The Hertie School also offers an Executive Masters of Public Administration.
 
 The Hertie School has dual degree programs with universities in London, Paris, New York, Milan, Syracuse, and Tokyo. Students can also spend an exchange semester at Georgetown University, National University of Singapore, Duke University, University of Toronto, University of Texas, Tsinghua University, George Washington University, or the Graduate Institute of International and Development Studies in Geneva, in addition to the dual degree programs.

Hertie School of Governance

The Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT) is known as "the Helmholtz Association's Research University." As Germany's only university of excellence with national large-scale research, it provides students, researchers, and employees with exceptional learning, teaching, and working environments. The roots of the university educational institution can be traced back to 1825.
 
 KIT now employs over 9,000 people, with more than half of them engaged in multidisciplinary research in the natural sciences, engineering, economics, humanities, and social sciences. As a result, the KIT is one of Europe's largest scientific institutions. KIT considers innovation to be one of their primary tasks, in addition to excellent teaching and cutting-edge research.
 
 In this way, they not only generate and disseminate knowledge for society and the environment, but also create economic applications from it. KIT's mission is to help humanity overcome global challenges by conducting pioneering research in the fields of energy, mobility, and information. The main goal here is to maintain constant contact and exchange with society.
 
 The university provides a wide range of educational opportunities, such as cross-disciplinary studies and work-study programs. At KIT, education tends to be theoretically oriented in the first semesters of a course, with a strong emphasis on mathematics for engineering and natural science courses. However students can choose between practical and theoretical topics in later semesters.
 
 Admission policies differ by department. While some departments choose students based on the quality of their high school diploma and extracurricular activities, other departments, such as physics, informatics, and meteorology, do not. Before students are allowed to complete their course, all courses require a minimum number of passed exams, known as Orientierungsprüfungen or orientation assessments, in the first three semesters.

Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT)

Kiel University of Applied Sciences was founded in 1969 as a University of Applied Sciences. It is one of three public higher education institutions in Kiel, Germany. The faculties of Agriculture, Business Management, Computer Science & Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Media and Social Work, and Health offer approximately 30 Bachelor's and Master's degrees, supplementary degrees, and continuing education courses. There are 7824 students enrolled as of November 2018.
 
 There are two dorms on campus, as well as one large and several smaller cafeterias. A planetarium called the Mediendom, a computer museum, and a star observatory are also affiliated with Fachhochschule.
 
 Agriculture, Computer Science and Electrical Engineering, Manufacturing, Systems Engineering, Media, Social Work, and Economics are the six departments that comprise the Fachhochschule Kiel. Kiel University of Applied Sciences

Leipzig University, located in Leipzig, Free State of Saxony, Germany, is one of the world's oldest universities and the second-oldest university in Germany in terms of consecutive years of existence. The university was founded on December 2, 1409, with the four scholastic faculties. The university has been engaged in teaching and research without interruption for over 600 years.
 
 Today, the university has 14 faculties as of November 2021, with institutes and centers associated with each. It is Saxony's second-largest university, with over 29,000 students. There are now over 150 institutes, and the university offers 190 study programs leading to Bachelor's, Master's, Staatsexamen, Diplom (Master's equivalent), and Ph.D. degrees.
 
 The university offers a variety of courses in English and other foreign languages, as well as several programs designed specifically for international students. University exchange partners include Arizona, Oklahoma, Houston, Alberta, Ohio, and Edinburgh. Contacts with universities in Eastern Europe and the Far East have traditionally been strong.

Erasmus Mundus Global Studies is an interdisciplinary, research-based Master offered by a consortium of five European universities: Leipzig University, the London School of Economics, University of Vienna, University of Wroclaw and Roskilde University. 
 
 The urban campus of the university is spread across 38 different locations in Leipzig. Aside from the faculties and other teaching institutions, the university is served by several other bodies, including the University Library, a university archive and administration, numerous museums (including the Museum of Musical Instruments and the Museum of Ancient Egypt), and the university hospital. The Leipzig Botanical Garden at the University of Leipzig is Europe's second-oldest botanical garden.

Leipzig University

Lüneburg's Leuphana University is a public university in Lower Saxony, Germany. Four faculties are in charge of transdisciplinary scientific initiatives, as well as Leuphana's main research areas in education, culture, sustainability, management, and entrepreneurship. Leuphana College's bachelor's degree programs are divided into eight departments and two teacher training courses. A graduate college with master's and doctorate programs was established in 2008. The university participates in international and regional networks, such as the International Sustainable Campus Network and the Northern Association of North German Universities.
 
 Leuphana has received numerous awards for its development as a humanistic, action-oriented, and sustainable university, including several awards from the Stifterverband für die Deutsche Wissenschaft, the Mercator Foundation, the Volkswagen Foundation, and as a place in the land of ideas.

Leuphana University Lüneburg

Nordhausen University of Applied Sciences is a university in Nordhausen, Thuringia, Germany, with 2,461 students and 45 professors. It grants Bachelor's and Master's degrees in fields such as business administration, public administration, and business engineering, among others. The WHU – Otto Beisheim School of Management is a German business school with campuses in Vallendar and Düsseldorf, Germany. WHU was founded in 1984.

For the second year in a running, WHU's Otto Beisheim School of Management has solidified its place among Europe's top 20 international business schools and consistently ranks among the top German business schools. Offering academic programs and executive education, and adhering to the ideals of community, cosmopolitanism, entrepreneurship, and quality with courage and conviction, WHU is accredited by EQUIS, AACSB, and FIBAA.

At WHU, there are 2082 students total, including PhD candidates. The faculty of WHU is divided into six groups: finance and accounting, economics, management, entrepreneurship, marketing and sales, and supply chain management. There are 59 professors (including assistant professors), roughly 230 staff members, and 222 partner universities in these departments.

One of the best and most well-known business schools in Germany, the WHU Otto Beisheim School of Management has a strong reputation both domestically and abroad. A proper training concept is always provided by the academic programs for executives.

WHU offers numerous study programs. The language of instruction for the bachelor's program is English or German, while all master's programs are taught entirely in English.
