In North American Studies we scientifically analyse the history  society  literature  culture  politics  and economy of the United States and Canada. Structured around six key disciplines  history  cultural studies  literary studies  political science  sociology and economics and the program imparts profound expertise of these two countries while allowing students to deepen their specialized knowledge as they gradually select a disciplinary focus.

Restricted admission for 3rd and 5th semester for winter semester.

Internship is not mandatory, but is optional during studies. If possible, we recommend doing an internship.

The amount 312 EUR consists of a 50.00 EUR as enrollment fee, 54.09 as social contribution for the studierendenwerk BERLIN, 10.00  as contribution to the student government (Studierendenschaft), 198.80  for the semester ticket

North American Studies

The international Master degree course in Renewable Energy Systems looks at the technology and engineering of wind  solar and bio-energy systems as well as downstream systems for energy transformation and distribution. The course’s focus is on systems engineering. In addition  graduates learn process simulation techniques and can also develop their business and management skills. The course is made up of two semesters of theory and practical lab work and a six-month Master thesis in industry.

The Global Studies Programme (GSP) is a critical research-oriented social science graduate programme. The primary goal of the programme is to analyze the social world we live in by research and work towards envisioning and realizing alternative futures. The programme requires a Master Thesis. The students are expected to reflect on their GSP education, experience, and research in the final thesis.
Students who spend their second semester at FLACSO can opt for a double-degree (HUandFLACSO).

The continuing education Master degree in Criminology, Criminalistics and Police Science is an extra-occupational, interdisciplinary Master degree. In the two-year blended learning course , the basis, current research results and empirical methods in criminology, criminalistics and police science are taught. Students in the Master program in criminology, criminalistics and police science have the opportunity to choose between the elective areas of criminology and criminalistics.  The FHM's studies are organized into trimesters. Courses are held during the first two months of each trimester. The exam preparation phase is followed by the exam phase for the module exams.
