The study program International Master in Sociolinguistics and Multilingualism deals with the topic of the scientific and social discourse of European multilingualism at the local, national and EU-wide level. The aim is to educate a new generation of sociolinguists who have acquired a scientific and practical understanding of the parallel use of different languages in Europe and have expertise in the social dynamics and cultural, political and socio-economic impact of multilingualism in Europe. It is a joint degree programme offered by Vytautas Magnus University, Kaunas (Lithuania) and Johannes Gutenberg University, Mainz (Germany) in cooperation with the University of Stockholm (Sweden) and the University of Tartu (Estonia).

Applicants must pay 100 EUR for application fee
Students have to pay 250 EUR per semester during the course of study in VMU, Lithuania and 350 EUR during the course of study in JGU, Germany and there is no tuition fee for the course of study in SU, SwedenTU and Estonia
Minimum entry requirement includes a Bachelor degree or an equivalent degree in humanities or social sciences. The degree must have a linguistic or philological component of at least 30 CP.
Successful passing of an aptitude interview at the Vytautas Magnus University in Kaunas/Lithuania.
Cambridge FCE is also accepted as proof of language proficiency
