The international Master Program World Studies: Orders  Politics  Cultures provides students with in-depth knowledge of global structures and interactions. It aims at examining political and cultural processes at a world scale from an interdisciplinary perspective. We engage with international orders  the complex inter-relations between international actors  the global dissemination of ideas and knowledge  as well as diverging and converging modes of understanding in intercultural contexts. We understand ‘orders’ as stable settings gathering the parts and a whole (e.g.  in the sense of multi-level governance and international legal systems). ‘Politics’ is concerned with the regulation of societies in transnational contexts. ‘Cultures’ refers to disputed interpretations  practices  and values pertaining to these orders and politics.

Internship is not mandatory, but is optional during studies. If possible, we recommend doing an internship.

The research-oriented international Master degree program in Biotechnology allows for a post-bachelor’s specialized training in cell biology  microbiology  bioanalytics and Laboratory Diagnostics. In addition to solid theoretical training incorporating the most up-to-date scientific knowledge  the Master degree programme offers an exceptionally high proportion of practical training in modern laboratory methods. Within small project groups students learn to carry out scientific experiments and how to document and present them. The programme is internationally oriented and all courses are given in English. After their Master thesis  which is carried out in national and international research institutions or enterprises  students are qualified to pursue doctoral studies.

Applicants with a German higher education degree have to apply via BTU's Online Application Portal.
International applicants have to apply via uni-assist. Uni-assist verifies applications on their credentials – it does not grant admissions. If the verification of uni-assist is successful  the application is forwarded to BTU Cottbus-Senftenberg where we evaluate the application with regards to the admission to our programme. A submission of application documents directly to the university is not possible.

German language skills are not required for the application.

The Environmental and Resource Management study programme offers an integrated approach to current environmental issues. Recognising that these issues can no longer be solved by a single discipline  the programme combines the knowledge of several closely related fields. Classes are offered in fundamental technical subjects as well as in natural sciences  sociology  and economics. Starting from this basis  more specific courses deal with current environmental issues such as techniques of resource protection  concepts of environmental planning  risk and impact assessment  as well as socioeconomic implications. The acquisition of management and social skills  and technical and scientific knowledge are therefore highly valued and considered indispensable.

Environmental and Resource Management

With the program Petroleum Engineering Even in this era of transformation for climate protection and the energy system  the fossil fuels oil and natural gas remain an essential pillar of our society. By further developing traditional petroleum engineering techniques and new fields of application  such as the storage of energy generated through renewable sources and the use of deep geothermal systems  modern petroleum engineers make it possible to place the energy supply of the future on a more environmentally friendly footing. The consecutive Master program in petroleum engineering trains students specifically for the fields of drilling and production  reservoir management  energy storage and distribution  and deep geothermal systems.
