Students are encouraged to question how the World Heritage concept is understood and how it works around the world. The program combines theory and practice involving various academic disciplines such as humanities  architecture  ecology  management  tourism  marketing and others. The university was founded in 1886 as Königliche Seedampf-Maschinistenschule (Royal School for Naval Steam Machinists). The FUAS primarily educated marine engineers and officers until 1975. Over the last 30 years, the study program has grown to include all major engineering and information technology disciplines, as well as a business administration school.
 
 Today, the FUAS focuses on nautical engineering, communication technology, biotechnology, and renewable energy engineering. This focus is supported by the state of Schleswig-Holstein, which is one of the leading European regions in the application of renewable energy and environmental technologies, with wind energy and biogas accounting for roughly one-third of its electricity consumption.
 
 The lecturers are easily accessible to the approximately 3500 students on the green Flensburg campus of short distances - both before and after the class times. The teachers are also very close to practice and business needs.  FUAS is merged with the University of Flensburg (Universität Flensburg). The Hochschule für Musik und Theater Hamburg is one of Germany's larger music universities. The university is housed in the prestigious Budge-Palais in Hamburg Rotherbaum, near the city center. Church music, jazz, pop, composition, conducting, instrumental music, and voice are all covered in the courses. The theatre academy provides training in drama, opera, and directing. A third academy provides scientific and educational degrees and credentials (musicology, music education and therapy). The Mainz University of Applied Sciences, sometimes known as Hochschule Mainz, is a German institution of higher learning that was established in 1971. The School of Technology, the School of Design, and the School of Business are the three faculties that make up the University of Applied Sciences Mainz. The short study times, international course focus, and the university's practical orientation are shared characteristics of all academic subjects.

It employs 430 people and has 170 professors in addition to 5,700 pupils. The departments of Architecture, Civil Engineering, Geoinformatics, and Surveying are included in the faculty of the School of Engineering. Currently, the library is spread out between Campus and Holzstraße. Each faculty located at these places has access to the media through the libraries there: economics is located at Campus, while engineering and design is located at Holzstraße.

The University of Applied Sciences library offer books, periodicals, electronic resources, and videos for every subject area. Additionally, it provides general reference books, weekly and daily newspapers, etc. Everyone generally has free access to the inventory.

There is also an AStA at the Mainz University of Applied Sciences. The acting executive board of the (constituted) student body at the Mainz University of Applied Sciences is the General Students' Committee, also known as AStA (German: Allgemeiner Studierendenausschuss). Consequently, it is regarded as the student body government and the student representation body.

The University of Erfurt has successfully established itself in the domestic and international academic landscape since its refounding in 1994 with a clear cultural and social scientific profile. It is a centrally placed teaching and research institution with a focus on religion, the humanities and cultural studies, society, and teacher preparation. It has around 6,000 students, about 100 professorships, about 400 academic staff members, and about 300 administrative staff members.

The Gotha Research Library, which has one of Germany's largest collections of early modern manuscripts, is part of the university.

In addition to the Erasmus program, the institution collaborates. In contrast to the Erasmus program, most cooperation agreements in non-European nations, unless specifically indicated differently, apply to the entire university and not just certain programs or subjects. The majority of the partner universities for this program are found outside of Europe.
