Master

The Master degree program 'Energy and Environmental Management - Industrial Countries' provides the necessary knowledge and skills to design the energy system required for the future. To cope with the biggest challenge of the 21st century  man-made climate change  we must convert 100% of the world's energy supply to renewable energy sources over the next few decades and to optimize the supply and use of energy.

Both the teaching and research work within the Master program focuses on the transformation from fossil energy systems to 100% renewable energy systems in order to achieve the goal of having a maximum increase of the global average temperature of 1.5°C by the year 2050. In order to achieve this  energy system models are built  and measures are developed to allow for the implementation of renewable energy systems. Additionally  political economy studies help to identify barriers of the transformation and to develop appropriate local solutions. In doing so  we do not lose sight of the socially just and environmentally compatible perspectives in addition to the technical and economic perspectives. The possibilities of energy sufficiency and sustainability as well as the investigation of justice and gender aspects also play special role within the team’s research.



Courses in the degree program 'Industrialized Countries' are mainly taught in English. Only individual elective modules are in German. This enables students without German language skills to complete the Master degree program in Energy and Environmental Management.

This degree program is currently not subject to any admission restrictions.

Internship is not mandatory, but is optional during studies. If possible, we recommend doing an internship.

The international study programme Chemistry of Materials is research-oriented and provides  based on the education in a qualified undergraduate degree programme  the ability to work independently in a modern  interdisciplinary field at the interface between chemistry  physics and materials science. The study programme provides extensive knowledge of synthesis  chemistry and the properties of novel functional materials. The entire spectrum from the molecule via nanoscale materials to the bulk materials will be discussed. A particular focus is given on Advanced methods of industrial materials synthesis and chemical processing  such as nanomaterials  thin films  macromolecular materials  glasses and ceramics  and materials for energy. In these fields  both extensive experimental-analytical skills and computer simulation from atomistic to meso- and macroscopic length scale are of particular interest.

The Master of Science in Microbiology is a scientific-biological study course  based on fundamental research with a special focus on Microbiology in Its full diversity. This covers phylogeny  physiology  cell and molecular biology of organisms from all three domains of life.The programme is interdisciplinary in nature and includes modules at external research institutes such as the Leibniz Institute for Natural Product Research and Infection Biology (Hans Knöll Institute)  the Max Planck Institute for Chemical Ecology  and cooperation with relevant biotechnology corporations.

The Marketing Management studies at CBS will teach you marketing from the ground up. From classic advertising to social media to digital marketing strategies. But these are only a few aspects – marketing managers today also need to Master customer loyalty, procurement marketing, and personnel marketing.

In order to commence your studies with us, you must first successfully complete our selection process. The interviews take place regularly and are carried out via Skype.

It is mandatory to do an internship. It is easier to find internship when it is mandatory. 3-6 months is most common.

Alternatively, you can furnish proof by taking the CBS language test within an interview (via skype) with our English Department.
