The interdisciplinary Master program "History  Economics and Philosophy of Science / Interdisciplinary Studies of Science" (ISoS) focuses on science-reflective studies and is aimed at working out essential characteristics of science and making them explicit. The goal is the analysis of scientific knowledge  Its economic structure and Its integration into the social context in the past and present. The course is aimed on the one hand at bachelor’s graduates in the three basic disciplines of history  economics and philosophy  and on the other hand at graduates from the natural and social sciences who are aiming for a science-reflective deepening of their studies. The training in the ISoS course qualifies the students for independent research work in the field of science research  but at the same time is aimed at imparting important skills for working in various institutions of science administration and science management. 

Internship is not mandatory, but is optional during studies. If possible, we recommend doing an internship.

History  Economics and Philosophy of Science

In 1919, the main building of Bauhaus-Universität Weimar became the home of the State Bauhaus, the most influential design school of the twentieth century. It was established in 2009 to replace the Fachhochschule Oldenburg/Ostfriesland/Wilhelmshaven. With approximately 6,700 students, the university has campuses in Wilhelmshaven, Oldenburg, and Elsfleth. The Jade River inspired the name of the university.

The Fachhochschule Potsdam is a University of Applied Sciences in Potsdam, which lies in the capital of the German federal state of Brandenburg. It was established in 1991, and the first classes were held in the winter semester of 1991–1992.

There are two locations for the Fachhochschule Potsdam. The majority of the classes are held in the former Adolf-Hitler Barracks of the Wehrmacht Infantry Regiment 9 at the Pappelallee Campus in northern Potsdam.

With more than 30 bachelor's and master's degree programs that emphasize practical application, the University of Applied Sciences Potsdam provides both prospective students and current students with clear employment opportunities. 3,600 students from Germany and other countries are supervised by more than 100 professors.

The University of Applied Sciences Potsdam's study programs are offered in German and demand for language proficiency at least at level C1 of the Common European Framework of Reference. German language proficiency is not required for admission to the Childhood Studies and Children's Rights master's program in English. However, it is advised to have a basic understanding of German.

An international network of about 80 partner universities makes up the Potsdam University of Applied Sciences. In addition to facilitating easy and cost-free completion of a semester abroad for University of Applied Sciences students, this collaboration also fosters exchange at the teaching and research levels. In contrast, as a result of these alliances, the FH accepts students from all over the world for a semester or academic year.

Witten/Herdecke University is a private, state-recognized, non-profit university in Witten, North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany. It was the first private university in Germany to be accredited as a "Universität," a designation that acknowledges the university's academic standing as being on par with public universities and gives it the status to grant bachelor's, master's, and doctoral degrees as well as the German Habilitation.

For more than 30 years, the UW/H has provided courses with a future in the fields of business, politics, society, psychology, dentistry, and medicine. The University of Witten/Herdecke enrolls over 2,600 students and employs 582 people, including a faculty of 71 professors and 232 lecturers/researchers. Each year, graduate school awards a Ph.D. degree to about 100 Ph.D. candidates. Currently, the university is growing its campus and accepting more students.

The university's major department is the department of medicine. It was one among the first in Germany to provide a redesigned, integrated curriculum for medical school. The curriculum places a strong emphasis on extended clinical rotations and problem-based learning.

Admission to the university of Witten/Herdecke is based on a comprehensive, two-step process, in contrast to most other German medical schools. Of the roughly 1,400 applicants, 42 are accepted into medical school each semester.

A business and technology-focused institution of applied sciences, Worms University of Applied Sciences (German: Hochschule Worms) is located in Worms, Germany. There are approximately 3,500 students enrolled in its three departments of business sciences, computer science, and tourism/travel management. Both business and technical Bachelor's and Master's programs are among the courses available. A dual system with practical training is another option for some of these courses. There are other part-time MBA programs available as well.
