Master program in Power Engineering deals with power plant engineering and electricity generation. Electricity generation originates principally in large thermal and hydraulic power plants and is increasingly complemented by decentralized generation technologies providing renewable energies.

It is mandatory to do an internship. It is easier to find internship when it is mandatory. 3-6 months is most common.

Master in Ecological Engineering deals with preserving ecosystems and protecting the environment. Various types of land use are competing globally for the limited space available. You will learn to understand the effects of these conflicts on ecosystems and to develop interdisciplinary environmental planning. Design sustainable land use strategies, e.g. for resource-conserving agriculture or forestry or for ecologically acceptable wastewater treatment solutions. Design methods to prevent and eliminate environmental problems and deepen your understanding of societal demands.
Note: Course can also be studied on part-time basis (6 semesters or 8 semesters in part time)

The languages of instruction for this program are German and English. This means that you need to complete modules in both German and English in the course of your studies

Internship is not mandatory, but is optional during studies. If possible, we recommend doing an internship.

German proficiency can also be proven by Qualification Assessment Examination, International Baccalaureate certificate with German at high level, General Higher Education Qualification from a European School in Germany or Diploma from a German educational institution

Ecological Engineering

The international Master in programme scientific computing is geared towards students working at the intersection of Mathematics, Computer Science, and application fields. The programme objective is to offer a specialized educational background that enables students to apply the state-of-the-art methods and tools of Scientific Computing to solution of challenging problems in modern technology and sciences. The focus of the programme is mainly the efficient numerical solution of partial differential equations. Graduates can pursue career in fields of scientific computing in public and private corporation and also pursue doctoral research.

The Semester contributions totaling 137.97 EUR must be paid each semester. It includes Association of Student Services fee 72.00 EUR and Semester Ticket fee 65.97 EUR

English Abitur and Cambridge FCE can also serve as proof of language proficiency

Scientific Computing

The Master of Science in Physics is a research-oriented study program. In the first year, the studies comprise required classes in the areas of experimental physics and theoretical physics, as well as required modules that may come from other areas, preferably from the natural-sciences/technical department. The second year is a dedicated research phase that takes place in a research group at the department.

The Semester contributions totalling 284.50 EUR must be paid each semester. It includes Semester ticket including the NRW-Ticket fee 178.00 EUR, Soli-EUR fee 3.00 EUR, Social contribution of Student union fee 90.50 EUR and AStA contribution fee 13.00 EUR

The Master program in Mathematics builds on the previous knowledge obtained and introduces students to current research questions through individual specialization. The aim of this research-oriented Master program is to provide students with sound, application-oriented knowledge of mathematical concepts and methods on the basis of analytical and structural thinking. Students will acquire knowledge in their chosen field that will introduce students to state-of-the-art research. The career prospects for mathematicians are excellent and diversified; They work in industry, banks and insurance companies, in the field of ecology, in administrations, research institutes and universities. Certificate of the higher education entrance qualification from an international school with proof that you have taken English as a foreign language, College English Test (CET; China): Band-4, with at least 450 points is accepted as proof of language proficiency
