The Environmental and Resource Management study programme offers an integrated approach to current environmental issues. Recognising that these issues can no longer be solved by a single discipline  the programme combines the knowledge of several closely related fields. Classes are offered in fundamental technical subjects as well as in natural sciences  sociology  and economics. Starting from this basis  more specific courses deal with current environmental issues such as techniques of resource protection  concepts of environmental planning  risk and impact assessment  as well as socioeconomic implications. The acquisition of management and social skills  and technical and scientific knowledge are therefore highly valued and considered indispensable.

Osnabrück University of Applied Sciences (German: Hochschule Osnabrück, formerly Fachhochschule Osnabrück) is a Lower Saxony university of applied sciences based in Osnabrück. It has been in its current form since 2003, but it first opened in 1971. The university's two campuses in Osnabrück and Lingen are supported by four faculties, namely - Agricultural Sciences and Landscape Architecture, Engineering and Computer Science, Management, Culture and Technology in Lingen, as well as Business Management and Social Sciences.
 
 The Bachelor's, Master's, and advanced training levels are truly comprehensive, with approximately 110 degree programs. Osnabrück University of Applied Sciences

One of the fourteen public research institutions in the German state of North Rhine-Westphalia is Paderborn University (German: Universität Paderborn). The institution was established in 1972, and 20,308 students were enrolled there for the winter semester of 2016–2017. There are 62 distinct degree programs available. The main campus is in Paderborn, near Warburger Straße. Two dorms for students are owned by Paderborn University, and both are located close to the main campus. The library is located on the main campus.
