The Master degree program data science Due to the constant increase in data volumes and data complexity  Data Science has created a new  interdisciplinary field of work that covers a wide range of aspects of data analysis  such as handling large amounts of data  statistical modelling  visualisation  pattern recognition with machine learning methods  but also ethical and legal questions. Data Scientists are urgently needed for many socially significant developments  e.g. in the areas of intelligent vehicles or housing  artificial intelligence or social media.

The extraction of information from data is a genuinely interdisciplinary undertaking: The data collection and the communication of the results of the analyses require a link to the domain from which the data originate. The processing and analysis of the data requires an interaction of computer algorithms with statistical methods.

Internship is not mandatory, but is optional during studies. If possible, we recommend doing an internship.

Our Mining Engineering students will be trained in a diversity of fields regarding the raw material production. The main focus is on gaining in-depth knowledge in exploration  extraction  conveying and the processing of raw materials. In addition  students will gain practice from outside the main subject such as interpersonal skills. The combination of different disciplines guarantees a complete preparation for the graduate’s future professional development as a mining engineer. The student will achieve competence from both university and internships and thus be able to cope with functions in leadership and engineering practice  also working interdisciplinary and considering sustainability.



It is mandatory to do an internship. It is easier to find internship when it is mandatory. 3-6 months is most common.

In the Master program Expanded media Creating media experiences that have an impact on users' real lives and can bring about real changes is what the English-language Master programme 'Expanded Media' is all about. The focus of such new  transmedia media architectures is the personal experience: users want to feel personally involved and try to draw personal benefits for their lives from the media experience. In international teams  students develop media offerings that explore this potential. In interdisciplinary media productions  they combine real and media worlds of experience and develop a new media language based on the user/audience experience.
