Course Details

The American Studies Bachelor programme focuses on the literature, culture and history of the USA. In literary texts and non-literary cultural productions and media (such as film) as well as historical sources are analyzed and discussed in their diverse contemporary and historical dimensions of meaning. This opens up a view of different actors, milieus and institutions as well as cultural phases, social developments and historical and political decisions - from the colonial era to the 21st century. In the course of their studies, students acquire specialist knowledge of cross-cultural dimensions of American literature.
