The interdisciplinary Master program "History  Economics and Philosophy of Science / Interdisciplinary Studies of Science" (ISoS) focuses on science-reflective studies and is aimed at working out essential characteristics of science and making them explicit. The goal is the analysis of scientific knowledge  Its economic structure and Its integration into the social context in the past and present. The course is aimed on the one hand at bachelor’s graduates in the three basic disciplines of history  economics and philosophy  and on the other hand at graduates from the natural and social sciences who are aiming for a science-reflective deepening of their studies. The training in the ISoS course qualifies the students for independent research work in the field of science research  but at the same time is aimed at imparting important skills for working in various institutions of science administration and science management. 

Internship is not mandatory, but is optional during studies. If possible, we recommend doing an internship.

The Semester contributions totaling 321.74 EUR must be paid each semester it includes Semester ticket 153.89 EUR, Studierendenwerk 91.00 EUR, NRW - Ticket 58.50 EUR and General contribution 18.35 EUR

Proof of language skills in English and/or German. Sufficient language skills are proven by a relevant academic degree from either a German- or an English-language institution. Sufficient language skills can also be proven by English at the CEFR level of B2 and a level of German of B2. If  at the date of application  no German language skills can be proven  a level of C1 in English is requisite for admission; in that case  skills of German at the level of B1 need to be earned during the programme and proven upon receiving the degree

With the program Media  Technology and Society  Digital media are having an ever greater impact on society. It is therefore vital for companies to keep pace  especially as they are increasingly reaching their target groups via online media. They therefore need experts who keep an eye on technological developments and at the same time reflect on these interactions with social trends and make strategic use of them. Their education is in the Master programme „Media  Technology and Society“. The graduates are experts in the development  planning  implementation and evaluation of new forms of communication  media and study methods for journalism  marketing and communication. At the same time  they are sensitized to the ethical dimensions of digitization  for example with regard to the use of data. 

Step 1
Apply online via the uni-assist portal. Note the necessary application documents that you need to upload there (no postal submissions). About 4 weeks after receipt of your application  uni-assist will inform you about the current processing status. If your application is formally correct  your data will be forwarded to the Hochschule Darmstadt. 

Step 2
If your application is successful  you will receive a letter of admission from the Hochschule Darmstadt. This letter of admission contains a binding enrolment date and a list of documents that you must submit by Email in order to enrol. 

Incomplete or incorrect documents will result in the cancellation of the notification of admission! The place originally allocated to you will then be allocated to someone else.

Admission requirement is a Bachelor or diploma degree in the field of media sciences or a related field with 180 CP.

Contemporary Performance and Composition (CoPeCo) is a two-year joint Master programme in Contemporary Performance and Composition offering the students an open platform for experimental artistic practice within a European setting. You will spend each of the four semester in a different institution, moving from one to the other as a group with the other CoPeCo students. Your studies will be centered around the Master Degree Project which you will complete over the two-year study period.
